Seller Profit Calculator

Find profit after costs and fees.

Estimated result—

Change the example inputs to your own values. Check the method and limitations below.

How to use this calculator

Enter Sale price ($), Item cost ($), Postage and packaging ($), Marketplace fee (%). The result updates in your browser as you edit an input. The prefilled values are examples only.

How the estimate works

Subtract item and shipping costs and a percentage fee from sale price. Check which charges your platform includes in its fee base.

What can change the answer?

Refunds, discounts, taxes, promoted listings, payment processing, and fees on shipping can change take-home profit. This simple model charges the percentage fee on item sale price only.

Before relying on the result

Reconcile the item sale price, cost and postage against an actual order. Check the fee base on your marketplace statement: this tool applies the entered percentage to item sale price only. Fixed processing fees, charges on buyer-paid shipping, refunds, labor and overhead need separate treatment when relevant.

Worked example with the default inputs

A $45 sale with a $15 item cost, $8 shipping-and-packaging cost and a 10% fee leaves $17.50 in modeled profit. The fee is $4.50, and the modeled profit margin is 38.89%.

Interpret the result in a planning record

The seller profit calculator subtracts item cost, postage and packaging, and a percentage fee from the sale price. Its percentage fee is applied to the item sale price. Confirm whether your platform charges fees on shipping, tax or another amount, and include fixed charges in the appropriate cost input when they belong to the order.

Save the input values, units and result together. Change one uncertain input at a time so you can see which assumption moves the answer. A displayed decimal is arithmetic precision, rather than evidence that the measurements or rates are equally precise.
